Before Sammy Baugh had success in the NFL, he tried to make a career for himself in baseball. Not happy with the amount of playing time he was given, “Slingin’ Sammy” moved on to football and was drafted sixth overall by Washington. During his time playing football he was a 5x All-Star, a Pro Bowl Selection, 2x NFL Player of the Year and a 2x NFL Champion. Sammy Baugh was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963 and was the last surviving member of the inaugural class. In 2008, Baugh passed away at the age of 94.
