Russ Hodges will always be known for his immortal words, "The Giants win the Pennant! The Giants win the Pennant!", upon the clearing of the fence of Bobby Thomson's walk-off home run in the 1951 World Series - known as "The Shot Heard Round the World". The most famous moment in sports broadcasting history was called by Hodges who died unexpectedly of a heart attack at the age of just 60 in 1971. Saving 1 baseball for the signature of a broadcaster was unheard of in the era. Hodges subsequent election to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1980 insured the extreme rarity of such a sphere.
